Selling a car made easy: The 10 top tips from Youtube expert Daniel Hohmeyer
Do you want to sell your car? We have 10 tips to make car sales a success!
For over two years, Daniel Hohmeyer has been known as the face of Carwow Germany on Youtube. With almost 200,000 subscribers and over 4 million video views per month, he has established Carwow as a platform for buying a new car.
A car is a long-term companion for most people and no matter what the reason for a sale is – it can be a stressful affair. You want to know that your used car is in good hands and at the same time get a fair price. But for this you have to know which factors determine the used car price. Daniel Hohmeyer, Head of Video at Carwow Germany, says:
"What you can still charge for your car has nothing to do with installments. Do your research before selling, for example, by looking at sales ads for similar cars. Free vehicle valuations also make sense to get a better feel for a realistic price. Are you also thinking about where you want to sell your car – online or at a dealership? Do you want to trade in the car or do you want to sell it to a private individual? These factors have an impact on how quickly your car can be sold and how much you can charge, among other things."

10 tips for selling a car
Daniel has some tips for you on how to get the best price for your car, no matter where you sell it:
1. Remove damage, scuffs or scratches
Before you offer your car for sale, you should have minor damage such as scratches or parking bumps repaired by a specialist workshop. Often, the insurance company also pays for damage that can be removed with Smart Repair. A car without damage increases the sales value. Major damage must be mentioned in the sales advertisement in any case.
2. Car detailing – washing and polishing
Professional exterior cleaning makes the vehicle shine in new splendour again - and so do the faces of potential buyers. A well-maintained car makes a much better impression and is worth more.
3. Do interior cleaning (have it done)
The same applies to the interior. Of course, it happens that stains appear on fabric seats, dog hair remains in the trunk or various odors settle inside. Do yourself and interested parties a favor and let a professional do it.
4. New TÜV creates trust
Even if you have to spend money on a new TÜV sticker, this can have a positive effect on the price when you sell it. If you can show a new technical inspection, potential buyers are more likely to pay a higher price. The certainty of buying a technically flawless car is worth a lot to most people.
5. Proof of repairs or customer service
In the service booklet, a current stamp from a workshop looks good, because a new customer service shows the prospective customer that the car is being taken care of. If repairs have already been carried out, it is always good to be able to present the corresponding invoices.
6. Check papers
When selling, you need the registration certificate parts one and two and if modifications have been made, these must also have been confirmed by a document from the TÜV.
7. Detailed description of the equipment
The more there is in it, the more interesting the car usually is. Therefore, list everything that the vehicle has to offer - regardless of whether it is banalities in your opinion.
8. Highlight special features
Above all, it is important that special features are highlighted. These could be, for example, leather seats or a special sound system. This makes your vehicle stand out from the other offers.
9. Put the car in the limelight – that's how important good pictures are
You won't be the only person offering a car for sale. To stand out from the competition, good pictures are a must. The time you spend on meaningful photos will benefit you later. Shoot in landscape mode and make sure you have good light. In addition to the complete car, all relevant details should also be photographed.
10. Don't forget to take detail shots
Make sure that some vehicle parts are also photographed in detail. Rims, for example, are such a case – you would like to take a very close look at them. Detailed photos also show possible damage. If you report them honestly in advance, there will be no trouble later.
